Mission and Organizational Information
The Annunciation Greek Language and Culture School was founded in 1901, as a ministry of the Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Community of Philadelphia. It is an “after-school” program whose mission is to implement the educational aims and goals as defined by the Charter of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and the decisions of the Clergy Laity Congresses. Our main goal is to instill in the minds and hearts of our young the spiritual, moral and cultural values of our Hellenic Orthodox Heritage through the systematic instruction of the Greek Language, the Greek Orthodox Faith and the Hellenic Cultural Heritage.
Students must be 5 years old by September 1 of the current year. Classes are Levels I, II, III, IV, V, VI & VII. Teen classes and Adult classes are also available. Please contact the Coordinator above for details. The format of the program incorporates principles of Greek elementary education and modern computer technology. Courses are taught by teachers who are fluent native speakers in the Greek language. The program covers study of Greek language, geography, history, music and dance.
