What is Divine Liturgy? The public worship of the faithful. The baptized Orthodox laity and the liturgist priest.
The Divine Liturgy is not a man made thing neither did the Apostles designed her. It is the great incomprehensible, unsurpassable, unutterable and most Divine mystery which was established by Christ Himself on that glorious night at the Upper Room. The character of the Divine Liturgy is Paschal and her essence is eschatological i.e. always looking for the kingdom of God. The Divine Liturgy is a sacrifice and a remembrance of the Mystical Supper but also she is, communion of the faithful because we commune of the same cup, we partake of the same Body and Blood of Christ.
Beloved faithful of the Evangelismos parish, I humbly ask of you again and again to make every possible effort to be present at this Great Mystirion from the moment the call " Blessed is the Kingdom of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit....is made, rather much earlier! God the Father has called you to this Great Supper why the delay? and is it honorable of you to come in to the house of the Householder just about the time supper is to be served without first having a conversation with Him listening to His Word in the family room?
Let us be more attentive to God's call.
Father Christos
